Relish
The other day I was interviewed for a program about life after moving to a slower pace of living.
For those who don't know, five years ago we left crazy busy Melbourne and moved our family and businesses to sleepy Agnes Water in rural Queensland. It was the best decision we made.
I was asked what advice I would give to myself living in Melbourne all those years ago. What would I do differently if we moved back? It took a moment, but my answer was clear.
You have to be intentional. You can't expect life to open up spaces and places where you can live a restful life. You have to make that space something that gives you joy and you have to dwell in that space and relish in a God that loves you deeply and unconditionally.
For me, that space is under the umbrella on our back deck of our beautiful blue Queenslander. If I was to give myself advice, I would tell myself to look for that umbrella and find new places to experience that same joy I feel.
Because the joy you experience in those places carries through your day and gives you the strength to find rest when life doesn't go to plan.
